CMMI Mangalore chapter to organise seminar from Nov 17
Mangalore, Nov 14 (UNI) To commemorate the golden jubilee of the Company of Master Mariners of India (CMMI), its Mangalore chapter would hold a two-day national seminar on 'Winds of change in shipping' from November 17.
Talking to newspersons here today, seminar Convener and Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industries President John Menezes said the seminar would be organised jointly with the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS), Chennai branch, and Mangalore unit. Subjects related to shipping, including infrastructure, ports, shipping markets, marine insurance, claims handling and loss prevention, international trade and documentation, legal implications, maritime environment and IMO status would be discussed. Speakers have been drawn from Mangalore, Mumbai and Chennai from the industries, port and insurance sectors, he added.
He said the seminar would also discuss in detail the Mangalore Special Economic Zone, being set up here through which the activities of the New Mangalore Port was sure to grow in leaps and bounds. With the new LNG terminal established at the port, the number and size of ships calling at the port and variety of products handled would also increase soon, he added.
