CM for early completion of development projects
Shimla, Nov 14 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today called upon the secretaries and department heads to make a strategy for time bound and effective implementation of budget assurances, announcements and Cabinet decisions.
Since the party's election manifesto has been adopted as the policy document by the government, all schemes and progammes initiated for public should be given top priority by the government machinery, he said yesterday.
Mr Singh was speaking at a high level meeting of principal secretaries, secretaries and department heads today, while reviewing the implementation of the policies and programmes and other decisions during the last three and a half years.
The state government's decision to allot land to the landless and homeless should be speeded up by the respective Deputy Commissioners after identifying the eligible families, he said.
He directed the authorities to submit a monthly report in this regard to the chief secretary to monitor its implementation and said panchayats could be instrumental in identifying eligible families in their areas.
The Himachal Government has formulated an ambitious plan to spend Rs 3,400 crore on road construction, and upgradation, in the next few years to strengthen the existing road network in the state, he said.
Mr Singh said of the 250 panchayats not connected with roads, 147 had been connected with motorable road, while work was in progress in 103 panchayats, which too would be completed well within two years.
All panchayats in Una, Solan, Sirmaur, Lahaul and Spiti, Hamirpur and Bilaspur districts would be connected by roads in coming months, he said.
