CCEA approves Rs 283 cr for NE edu institutions
Aizawl, Nov 14: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs(CCEA) has approved to sanction Rs 283 crores for upgrading and establishing necessary educational infrastructure facilities in the North Eastern region.
The funds would also be utilised to introduce value education programmes in the region, official sources here today said.
The Agriculture college of Imphal, College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry in Aizawl, College of Fisheries in Agartala, College of Horticulture and Forestry at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh and Central Agricultural University at Imphal have been included by the CCEA, sources said.
There is also a proposal to set up three new colleges -- College of Home Science in Meghalaya, College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology in Sikkim and College of Post Graduate Studies at Barapani in Meghalaya, CCEA officials added.
Besides, the Centre would also provide the NE states extra funds for any new proposal by submit a detailed project report, sources added.
