Age wont be a handicap if made President-Shekhawat
On board Air India Special Aircraft, Nov 14 (UNI) Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today said age will not be a constraint for him if asked to take over as the President.
''If I can scale the Eiffel Tower at this age then I do not think age can be an impediment in my functioning as the President'' he told reporters who accompanied him on his visit to Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr Shekhawat made a stop-over in Paris on his way back home.
Expressing satisfaction over the visit, he said India's credibility has increased in these nations due to the presence of a large number of people of Indian origin.
''The view will further be augmented owing to the Indian assistance for the construction of a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Georgetown,'' he said.
He also called upon the Indian community living in the Caribbeans to bolster ties with the country of their origin.
''The archaeology departments of both the countries can play a vital role in this regard. Research also needs to be undertaken in this direction.'' he added.
