TDP leader demands release of CPI state secretary
Srikakulam, Nov 13 (UNI) TDP partliamentary party leader K Yerran Naidu today demanded immediate release of CPI Andhra Pradesh state secretary K Narayana and party workers and withdrawal of cases against them.
Talking to mediapersons here after meeting Mr Narayana and other CPI workers lodged in the sub-jail, he supported the CPI's demand for distribution of lands to farmers of Kambirigam.
The CPI launched the agitation to protest against the alleged failure of the district administration to distribute 193 acres of land, which was assigned to farmers of Kambirigam, Edurpalli and Kedaripuram villages in Palasa mandal in the district. Though the land was allotted to the farmers three decades ago, the land was yet to be handed over to them.
Mr Naidu said the TDP would organise road blockades across the state if Mr Narayana and RYTU Sangam leader K Nageswara Rao was not released.
Mr Narayana threatened that his party would intensify the agitation if the government continued to be indifferent on the plight of farmers.
