Shabbir to head Down Under for re-test of action
Lahore, Nov 13 (UNI) Banned pacer Shabbir Ahmed will fly to Australia on November 21 for a re-examination of his action after getting an all clear from the Pakistan Cricket Board Technical Committee, which has been working to correct him for almost a year.
The pacer, who was banned last December by the ICC for a suspect action, will be re-examined by Dr Bruce Eliot as he approaches the end of his year-long ban.
''We are video taping bowling of Shabbir which will be sent for an assessment of his action to a leading expert Dr Bruce Eliot of Western University Australia,'' PCB Chairman Naseem Ashraf was quoted as saying by the Associated Press of Pakistan.
''Besides that, Shabbir will also be flying to Australia on November 21 and Dr Bruce will examine him in action to submit his report and recommendations to PCB,'' he added.
The PCB Chairman, meanwhile, called on the commission which is hearing the appeal filed by Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammed Asif in the doping case, to decide fast on the bowlers' future.
''I would appeal to the commission to conclude the review as soon as possible,'' he said.
