Seminar and Workshop to take stock of Satellite education

Bangalore, Nov 13 (UNI) A three day seminar on English language educationthrough satellite will be held here from November 15.

Organised by the Regional Institute of English, South India (RIESI) here the seminar has attracted over 500 deligates who would delibrae on over 60 papers to be presented by experts, RIESI Director M D Gayatri Devi Dutt told newsmen here today.

She said the Seminar also aimed at working out the possibilities of setting up a virtual classroom and the modus operandi of conducting IT and computer enabled classroom teaching with special reference to English language teaching and learning.

The subjects dealt during the Seminar included Learners in a Satellitge Classroom, Satellite Based Transaction and Future of Edusat.

She said that the purpose of the Seminar was to disseminate the research findings and trends in the field of language edcuation besides sharing the innovative experiments carried out by scholars, researchers, field experts, practicing teachers and learners.

Replying to a question, she said that the Edusat programme introduced in Chamarajanagar and Gulbarga have received overwhelming response and efforts are made to introduce in other parts of the State. In Kerala all most all the Schools have been covered under the programme.

Indian Satellite Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman Madhavan Nair will inaugurate the Seminar.
