Sarkar calls for resource mobilisation from forest products
Agartala, Nov 13 (UNI) Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar has streesed on the need for growing maximum forest resources to boost economy of the state.
Speaking at the two-day conference of forest corporation employees union here last evening, Mr Sarkar said it was the responsibility of the Tripura Forest Development Plantation Corporation (TFDPC) to utilise maximum resources for expansion of rubber cultivation in the state.
Mr Sarkar said Tripura's rubber production was next to Kerala in the country and adding "We have 60 per cent forest land and we should exploit maximum benefit from it." He said there was sufficient reason for the state to bank on economic progress out of rubber, tea, coffee, cashewnut, banana, orange and pinapple production.
