Panchayat vice president among five held for murder attempt

Rajkot, Nov 13 (UNI) Five persons, including the vice president of the Gondal Taluka Panchayat Hardevsinh Jadeja, were arrested late last evening near Atkot, about 60 kms from here, in connection with a firing incident which left three persons injured.

Jasdan police inspector R D Ulva told UNI that the five were arrested around 2130 hrs yesterday. A licenced revolver, which was used in the firing, has been seized from Hardevsinh, Mr Ulva said.

Jadeja, brother of Gondal MLA Jairajsinh Jadeja, and his supporters had allegedly opened fire on a group of persons over business rivalry late Saturday evening at Bhunava village in Gondal Taluka of the district.

Three persons were injured in the firing and the condition of two of them is stated to be serious.
