NTPC signs MoU with SITAR

Mumbai, Nov 13: NTPC Limited today signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a collaborative tie-up with Society for Integrated circuit Technology and Applied Research (SITAR).

The MoU aims at identifying the technology provider for the manufacturing of White Light Emitting Diode (WLEDs) and LED lamps, said a press release.

The MoU was signed in New Delhi by SITAR CEO M S Vijay Raghavan and Director (Comml.) R S Sharma on behalf of their respective organizations in the presence of CMD, NTPC T Sankaralingam, Director (Opns) Mr Chandan Roy, and Director (HR) NTPC Mr R C Shrivastav.

Ministry of Power has proposed NTPC to consider manufacturing of energy efficient LED lamps in view of the emerging demand with the rapid electrification of the villages under Rajiv Gandhi Vidyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY).

SITAR, a Government of India Society in the field of semi conductor fabrication, will assist in selection of best technology for a viable manufacturing of the WLEDs, the release added.
