NOCs from fire-brigade dept must for multi-storeys
Lucknow, Nov 13 (UNI) Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today postponed to November 20, the hearing in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking directions for making it mandatory for proposed multi-storey buildings to seek no-objection certificates (NOC) from the fire brigade department.
A division bench comprising Justices Pradeep Kant and B B Agarwal passed this order on the PIL filed by Gomtinagar Jankalyan Samiti.
The HC has summoned secretary urban planning and development, secretary industrial development and vice chairman Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) on the next date of hearing.
The petitioners had said the HC had issued orders on September 8 and October 13 that the concerned authorities publish ads in two dailies informing the general public to seek the NOC before constructing multi-storeyed buildings.
However, the authorities had failed to take suitable measures, the petitioners allege.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh government counsel Jaideep Narain Mathur told the court that appropriate steps were being taken in this regard.
