Nitish demands all party meet on creamy layer
Patna, Nov 13 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today demanded that the Centre convene an all party meeting following a debate over the apex court's ruling depriving the creamy layer in scheduled castes from getting reservation in government services.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Kumar said the constitution had provision for reservation to scheduled castes in government services on the basis of social and educational backwardness. ''Depriving scheduled castes from the reservation facilities on the basis of economic criteria would be unfortunate,'' he added.
''The Centre should take initiative on the issue and if necessary something should be done during the coming session of Parliament,'' he said adding several ministers in the central government and Bihar government had also voiced their concern over the issue.
