Minister in BPL list : Congress cries foul

Patna, Nov 13 (UNI) The Bihar Congress today came down heavily on the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government following Rural Development Minister Vaidynath Mahto's figuring in the list of BPL, stating it was utter failure of the state government in providing benefits to the poor.

Chief spokesman of the party Kripanath Pathak said it bore an ample testimony to the fact that there were gross irregularities in the preparation of the BPL list.

'' How a government, which has failed to prepare a genuine BPL list, can be expected to execute welfare schemes for poor, '' he maintained.

The party demanded thorough probe into the entire episode and urged the government to take stringent action against those responsible, he said.
