Militant among three killed, security jawan injured in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 13 (UNI) Three people, including a militant, were killed and a security force personnal injured in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said.

They said a militant was killed by the security forces in an encounter at Magama, Handwara, in the frontier district of Kupwara last night. The encounter ensued after a search party was attacked by the militants hiding in the village. One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

The body of one Farooq Ahmad, a resident of Mir Bazar, Qazigund was recovered at Mattan in south Kashmir while another body was fished out from the river Jehlum in Baramulla.

Militants attacked a security force post at Karnah in north Kashmir last night. Security forces retaliated and in the encounter, a jawan was injured. Militants later managed to escape under the cover of darkness, they said.
