Man killed for 'kidney racket'

Chennai, Nov 13 (UNI) A 28-year-old man allegedly involved in a kidney racket was brutally murdered at the Government Maternity hospital here late last night.

Police said the worker, identified as Murugan from Meyyur village in Villupuram district, was found with his head smashed in.

According to police, Krishnamoorthy, who was staying with the deceased, murdered him using a boulder after he came to know of Murugan's plot to remove his kidney.

Murugan and his friend Sundar asked Krishnamoorthy to come to the hospital to donate blood. At the hospital, he overheard Murugan telling Sundar that he was planning to take him to Andhra Pradesh and remove his kidney.

An irate Krishnamoothy, seeing Murugan lying in an inebriated condition, hit him with a boulder, killing him instantaneously, police said.

Meanwhile, Krishnamoorthy surrendered before Egmore police and confessed to having murdered Murugan. He told police that the duo had conspired to remove his kidney for monetary gain. Fearing danger to his life, he murdered Murugan, he told the police.

Police has registered a case and launched a search for Sundar, who was absconding.
