Indian golf getting deeper, feels Tiger Woods

Shanghai, Nov 13 (UNI) Impressed with the rich form of the likes of Jyoti Randhawa and Jeev Milkha Singh, world number one Tiger Woods believes Indian golfers are increasingly making their marks in the global golf scenario.

Particularly impressed by Jeev, who won the Volvo Masters before joining Woods as his playing partner, the American, who counts Arjun Atwal among his friends, said, ''I was giving some grief to Jeev. I saw Arjun back home the other day when I was home practising and he's on his new workout regime trying to hit the ball longer and all that kind of stuff.

''Indian golf is growing and getting deeper, and those guys, you can see how talented they really are,'' Woods said.

The 12-time Major champion also played with another Indian, Jyoti Randhawa in the third round.

In the HSBC Champions, the Indian golfers gave a good account of themselves.

Randhawa led the first two rounds before finishing tied ninth, while Jeev was tied for 17th. Delhi talent Shiv Kapur was just behind Jeev, while seasoned Gaurav Ghei was tied at 26th.

Even before the HSBC Champions began, Woods was all praise for Jeev and the iconic American felt confidence made the all difference for the Indian who came out of wilderness to lift two trophies this season.

''I've met Jeev a few times..What he did at Valderamma, obviously, and what he's doing in Asia, he's having a great year,'' Woods said.

''I think it's just a matter of confidence. He's playing a lot of golf and he's starting to turn the corner. It's good to see. I know about him quite a bit and he's such a great guy,'' added the American.
