India seriously envisaging road connection in higher altitude, Joshi
Dehra Dun, Nov 13 (UNI) India would, by the year 2012, connect its higher Himalayan border areas by road, said Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Vipin Chandra Pandey.
Mr Pandey, addressing the reporters at Almorah district, said, ''The Central government is serious about joining the border areas in higher range by road including the areas situated at the height of 17,000 ft.'' He maintaind that ITBP was conducting its duty in remote and difficult heights competently. '' However we always feel the need of helicopters for patrolling and transportation purpose which unfortunately we don't have,'' he added.
