Gangster gunned down in encounter

Mumbai, Nov 13 (UNI) Sunil Kakde, an associate of underworld don Chhota Rajan and his henchman D K Rao, was killed in an encounter with police today at Borivali in North Mumbai, police said.

The police laid a trap for Kakde at Simploy Road in the area and on spotting him asked the gangster to surrender at 1830 hrs this evening, police sources said.

Kakde, who was involved in about 19 cases, instead of surrendering fired at the police team and in the retaliatory firing, he was seriously injured.

The gangster was rushed to the nearby Bhagwati Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, police added.
