Former MLA, six others charge-sheeted in forgery case
Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 13 (UNI) The Crime Branch today filed a chargesheet against former Congress MLA Shobana George and six others in the 'Intelligence letter' forgery case.
The chargesheet was filed before the Thiruvananthapuram Chief Judicial Magistrate.
The main charges against the accused were forgery, defamation, conspiracy and presenting a false document as genuine.
Others against whom the chargesheet was filed are Shobana George's personal assistant Anil P Srirangam, Jayachandran, Anil Nambiar, Chandra Mohan, P T Praveen and M Sukumar.
Ms George was accused of forging a letter in the name of the DGP (Intelligence) to former Chief Minister A K Antony's private secretary, stating that the then Tourism and Fisheries Minister K V Thomas was involved in a Rs 336 crore hawala transaction in 1999-2000.
The allegation rocked the state for quite sometime after the story was telecast by a private TV Channel in 2002 on the basis of the forged report.
