Former Jan Sangh MLA passes away

Varanasi, Nov 13: Former Jan Sangh MLA from Uttar Pradesh Charan Das Seth today died at his Mirghat residence here following a prolonged illness.

He was 88.

The former MLA is survived by two sons and a daughter.

Seth was elected to the UP Assembly on a Jan Sangh -- now BJP --ticket from the Varanasi (South) seat in 1974 and continued in the legislative capacity till 1977.

He was also an eminent criminal lawyer of the city.

The mortal remains of the former Jan Sangh leader were consigned to flames at the Manikarnika Ghat this evening.
