First phase of five-day 'Vikas Yatra' ends

Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda, Nov 12 (UNI) The first phase of the five-day 'Vikas Yatra', led by Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, came to an end at Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib today.

The culmination was marked by the message ''Congress rules hearts of millions of people through its progressive and visionary policies.'' The 'yatra' commenced from Takhat Sri Keshgarh Sahib at Anandpur Sahib after the performance of 'Ardas' on November 8.

Addressing mediapersons at Nandgarh, the native village of head priest of Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib, Capt Singh said he was overwhelmed with the exuberant response received from the masses.

'' Such a huge response from the people reflected the change in their minds from the so-called stronghold of Badals,'' Capt Singh said.

Replying to a question, the Chief Minister said the 'yatra' was certainly an election-oriented campaign and it was incumbent on the government to project its achievements and polices among the masses.

Asked to spell out the blueprint for the next Assembly elections, Capt Singh said, ''We would fight these elections exclusively on the development and the economic agenda.'' UNI DP HS DB2122
