Farmers stage rasta roko in Kolhapur and Sangli
Kolhapur, Nov 13 (UNI) Sugarcane growing farmers today staged a rasta roko in Kolhapur and Sangli districts demanding better price for their produce.
The agitation was led by Shetkari Sanghatana (SS) President Raghunathdada Patil near Shiyephata while, SS District Chief led the rasta roko near Vakare village.
Later, both the leaders and a large number of activists and agitating farmers were arrested and the road was cleared for traffic, police sources said.
Police foiled their rasta roko near Kinee village on the Pune-Bangalore National Highway and arrested the assembled agitators.
The farmers are demanding a minimum support price of Rs 1,800 per tonne for sugar cane.
