Delhi BJP seeks PM's intervention to save Sadar Bazar
New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) Strongly opposing the decision to remove the historical Sadar Bazar, the Delhi BJP has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene to save the market.
In a joint statement here today, BJP Pradesh General Secretary Pawan Sharma, Trade Cell in charge Shyam Lal Garg and Trade Cell President Shri Manohar Lal Kumar said,''The Sadar Bazar has historical and archaeological importance for Delhi. This market is functioning since the Mughal era. Traders not only from Delhi, but also from Haryana, Punjab, Uttaranchal, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan make bulk purchases from Sadar Bazar. If Sadar Bazar is disturbed, even a bit, then the trade in many states will be disturbed.'' The leaders said the future and livelihood of lakhs of families is connected with this market.
''If Sadar Bazar is removed then the trade character of Delhi will be ruined,''they said.
