Chamundeswari bypoll: Siddaramaiah cautions about rigging
Mysore, Nov 13 (UNI) Former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah today asked party leaders and workers to be vigilant during the Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency byelection, scheduled for December four, as he feared rigging, particularly in the urban areas.
Addressing city Congress leaders and workers meeting here, he said there were many rigging incidents particularly in bypolls and the workers should be vigilant and united to prevent such incidents.
Alleging that the ruling party and Government might try all sorts of tricks, Mr Siddaramaiah said it was a challenge for the workers to sustain the pressure from other parties and strive hard for the Congress' victory.
He exuded confidence that the gimmicks of the ruling party would not have any impact on the voters of the constituency.
The meeting, attended by former Union Minister R L Jalappa, former Ministers S L Shankar and Tanveer Sait, also discussed the election strategy.
