Centre seeks SC's permission for mixed land use by traders
New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) The centre today approached the Supreme Court seeking permission to allow 25,000 traders to use the mixed land on 2,183 roads in Delhi.
The centre in its application has requested the apex court to show mercy to these 25,000 traders by allowing them to continue trading activities subject to the condition of filing fresh undertaking latest by January 31, 2007 that they would stop the misuse if the two earlier notifications dated September 7 and September 15, 2006 are invalidated by the court.
According to the application there was material change in the situation and the sealing was on in respect of the fact that 5,500 traders were not covered by the notification.
The MCD is also likely to approach the court today afternoon and the petitions are likely to be heard within a few days.
