Ameya tops MRF-MAI Goa round

Panaji, Nov 13 (UNI) Ameya Walavalkar stole the limelight winning the third round of the MRF-MAI Indian National Kartig Championship (INKC) at Go-A- kart Racing track at Nuvem in South Goa.

Ameya remained invincible in both the INKC races and took his over all points tally to 140 points. With two more rounds left- Nagpur and Mumbai- the 25-year-old driver is comfortaly placed to claim the championship.

Reyomand Banajee, who had not participated in the earlier rounds, claimed the second position and registered 40 points.Goa's ace karter Audumber Hede finshied third to boost his score to 61, which put him in the second position on the leader board.

The Kadet class event saw a close battle between leader Vishnu Prasad, who started fourth on the grid, and Kolhapur's Chittesh Mandody.

The Chennai-lad managed to squeeze past Chittesh at the first left hand turn and held on to his lead to take the chequered flag.

Chittesh took the second place while Samyak Shah of Mumbai came third in the 17th lap race. Bangalore's Nikhil Kashyap, who was overall second finished fifth.

Vishnu is now on 70 points and Nikhil has 52. However, Chiitesh remained the biggest mover, leapfrogging to the third spot with 40 points after Parth's race came to an end in the third lap due to a tecnical snag.

Exultant over his victory Ameya said ''I had worked out a strategy which was to bag the pole position and then to carry on the race. I have a very big lead and in the next two rounds I will not push too hard''.
