Aligarh riots masterminds arrested
New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) In a major success the Delhi Police arrested two criminals involved in master-minding communal riots in Aligarh and carrying a reward of Rs 2.4 lakh, from the Delhi University area of North Delhi.
Uwesh alias Lallu (28) and Naved alias Chand (24) were wanted for the killing of Aligarh Vyapaar Mandal president which led to communal clashes in the city, resulting in the death of two people, police said today.
''They were arrested yesterday near Delhi University, after making a futile bid to escape by firing at the police party, while waiting for their associate.'' An Italian pistol, a country-made pistol and a stolen car were seized from their possession, police added.
The duo, involved in more than 33 cases of murder, Arms Act, Gangsters Act, were carrying a reward of 1.2 lakh each announced by the Uttar Pradesh government and the Aligarh Vyapar Mandal.
