10th Kannada meet to begin at Mumbai from December 2
New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) The tenth All India Kannada literary and cultural meet, scheduled to take place in Mumbai on December two and three, will focus on inter-state linguistic harmony at a time when the Kannada and Marathi activists are engaged in verbal warfare over the border dispute.
The two day meet, organised by Dehali Kannadiga, a monthly magazine published from Delhi, will be inagurated by Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash and National Human Rights Commission member and former Supreme Court Justice Shivraj V Patil will preside over the meet. Union Minister of State for Planning M V Rajashekaran will release the souvenir.
The meet, among other things, will discuss language, literature, cultural aspects of Kannada beside holding cultural programmes, music, dance, drama poets and women's meet. Among the star invitees include Mr G Narayana, president of Kannada Janapada Parishad, Mr Prabhakar Kore, MLC and Chairman of KLE Society and noted writer G D Joshi who are to receive the awards -- Kannada Vidyaranya, Best Social Worker and BM Sri literary awards respectively. Over 2000 delegates are expected to arrive from all over India at the Mysore Association Auditorium in Matunga locality.
The previous conferences were held at Kanyakumari, Panaji, Kolkata, Vadodara, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kathmandu and Pondicherry, Dehali Kannadiga editor M B Samaga said.
