TV channel cameraman arrested in cheating case

Moga, Nov 12 (UNI) The police have arrested Gurdev Singh, cameraman of a private TV channel, who was wanted in a case of cheating, extortion and impersonation registered by the local police last month.

He was produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Arun Vir Vashist and remanded to one day police custody.

The cameraman had surrendered in the court on Friday and the court sent him to judicial custody. The police, however, procured the production warrant of the accused and then after arresting him, produced him in court yesterday.

The district police had registered a case of cheating, fraud and impersonation against three persons Gaurav Moonga, Arun Kumar Kalra and cameraman Gurdev Singh following a complaint.

The three impersonating as income tax officials from Delhi had extorted a sum of Rs 50,000 from a local meat shop owner on October 18.

One of the accused Gaurav Moonga had been arrested earlier. The third accused Arun Kumar Kalra is absconding.
