Thousands of children administered polio doses in Surat

Surat, Nov 12 (UNI) Thousands of children received polio immunisation drops from more than 1,700 polio booths in 1,278 villages here today, sources said.

The Polio Immunisation Campaign initiated by the Central government will continue in the district till November 14 and the campaign plans to immunise around 4.02 lakh children up to five years of age.

About 76 primary health centres and three social health centres were engaged in today's polio immunisation drive. A large group of 719 health officials, 2,649 Anganwadi workers, 69 teachers and 3,598 health workers participated in the campaign, sources said.

The campaign volunteers will hold a door-to-door campaign in the coming days to ensure that all children upto five years of age in the district are administered with polio drops, sources added.
