Sumit Panda to lead Jharkhand Ranji team

Jamshedpur, Nov 12 (UNI) All rounder Sumit Panda will lead Jharkhand in the Ranji trophy this season, according to the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA).

The three-member selection commitee of JSCA has announced the 15-member team for two Ranji matches against Himachal Pradesh and Jammu&Kashmir to be played from November 23-26 and December 1-4 respecitively.

The selectors recalled old war horse Tariq-ul Rahaman while reposing faith on the experienced and tested players. Two new faces Arun Vidyarthi and Gurjeet Signh have been included in the squad.

Sumit, who led the state team twice, came back in the team after an injury lay-off. The selectors were impressed with his performace in the selection trial, the sources said.

Following is the team: Sumit Panda (Captain), Manish Vardhan, Arun Vidyarthi, Rajiv Kumar, Manish Kumar, C.M.Jha, Mohit Goyal, Tariq-Ul-Rahman, Madhusudan Tantubai, Mihir Diwakar, Ratan Kumar, S.S.Rao, S.Nadeem,Sunny Gupta and Gurjeet Singh.
