Part-time three years MBA programme in IIFT Kolkata
Kolkata, Nov 12 (UNI) In a bid to create experts in foreign trade, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has launched a part-time three years MBA (IB) programme in its campus here.
Former Commerce Secretary and IIFT Director Prabir Sengupta said, ''The programme is targetted at Senior Managers, Executives and government officials. The other feature of this programme was the average work experience of about six to seven years cutting across all sectors and industries, thus providing an opportunity for lateral learning from peers.'' The MBA (IB) part time Programme is aimed at imparting professional education and training in modern management techniques for handling international business operations in a highly competitive environment, he added.
The programme would have around 1200 contact/classroom hours spread over 3 years. It would provide comparative perspectives in many facets of international business practices, procedures and documentation in other countries, the director said.
CAPEXIL Chairman Samir Kumar Ghosh had inaugurated the course yesterday.
IIFT has also launched two full-time MBA (IB) programmes in Kolkata.
IIFT, established by the Union Ministry of Commerce in 1963, is a leading research and training institute in international business.
It was accorded the status of Deemed University in 2002.
