Over 80 lakh children given polio vaccines in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Nov 12 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi launched the year's last round of 'Polio Free Gujarat' campaign by administrering polio vaccine to children here today.

The polio campaign was launched as part of a nation-wide campaign to eradicate polio from the country.

Gujarat Health Department in a statement said over 80 lakh children, below the age of five years, were given drops of polio vaccines.

The campaign, supported by UNICEF, WHO and Rotary International, has been successful because of joint efforts of the public and over 1.25 lakh Karma Yogi employees of the state governments, the statement added.
