Muslim Morcha supports SP's demand for reservation to minorities

Lucknow, Nov 12 (UNI) All India United Muslim Morcha, today supported the Mulayam Singh Yadav government for demanding amendment in Article 341 of the Constitution to provide reservation to the Muslims and other minority communities.

''We the Muslims would certainly support the SP in the next Assembly elections, if they can pressurise the Centre to amend the Constitution for the purpose,'' said Morcha's national vice-president M A Siddique Talking to mediapersons, Mr Siddique and Morcha's state working president Salauddin said if the Chief Minister is serious on this matter, the Muslim community would certainly support the government.

''Without amending Article 341 of the Constitution, which prevents minorities to enjoy the facilities of reservation, Mulsim community cannot be uplifted,'' they maintained.

They also raised the recent Justice Sacchar report, which also indicated that the social and economic condition of the Muslim are worst than the dalits in India.

Meanwhile, the UP government is expected to bring a motion in the state assembly on November 22 urging the centre to amend Article 342 of the Constitution so that minorities can have the benefit of reservation.
