Kashmir Bar seeks probe by impartial agency into mosque attack

Srinagar, Nov 12 (UNI) The Kashmir Bar Association (KBA) has demanded a probe by an impartial agency into the grenade attack on a religious congregation near a mosque at Tahab in Pulwama district on Friday in which six people were killed and 40 others wounded.

''The attack is a move to create sectarian divide in Jammu and Kashmir. It has to be looked into seriously,'' the Bar said in a statement here while condemning the incident.

It said the incident should be probed by an independent and impartial agency taking in view the seriousness of the attack.

''It was not the first time that such an incident had taken place. Earlier in Dalgate, people claimed of capturing and handing over to police a person who had lobbed a grenade. But, the government and its agencies remained silent and did not disclose his identity,'' the Bar said.

If the state government and the Army were sure that the person was involved in the attack, it said he should be handed over to the independent agency so that the ''truth comes out''.
