Bangalore, Nov 12: The ruling Janata dal (S) would finalise the name of its candidate to contest in the prestigious Chamundeshwari assembly seat, for which bypolls would be held on December four, Karnataka Forest Minster C Chennigappa said here today.

Speaking to newsmen after dedicating Electromagnetic Display Board that display pollution levels in the city, he ruled out the possibility of leaving the seat to coalition partner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The minister said that the JD(S) parliamentary board, after holding talks with the party's leaders, would announce the party's nominee.

Brushing aside the BJP demand to leave the seat, the minister said, ''basically Chamundeshwari seat belongs to JD(S) and one should acknowledge that JD(S) candidate had won the election last time.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Siddramaiah who had won from this seat, forming a part of Mysore City, on a JD(S) ticket last time, later resigned and joined the Congress necessitating the bypoll. He was not the Congress nominee for the election.
