Four militants awarded over 22 years rigorous imprisonment

Jammu, Nov 12 (UNI) A Jammu court has awarded 22 years and six months rigorous imprisonment to four militants, who were allegedly working at the instance of Inter services intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan and declared two Hizbul Mujahideen men, including a Pakistani national, absconding, for their involvement in terrorist activities.

Principal Sessions Judge, Subhash Chander Gupta after prosecution found guilt to four militants guilty namely Altaf Ahmed, Mohammad Azad, Jahangir Hussain, Ikhtiar Ahmed hailing from Surankote, Poonch and declared Janat Gul commander HM of Pakistan and Khalid Javid of Surankote as absconders while initiating proceedings u/s 512 CrPC against them.

According to the prosecution case, Altaf, Azad, Ikhtiar and Jahangir had hired a room in village Fazalabad in Surankote and dumped arms and ammunition. They were also involved in terrorist activities. A blast took place inside the house during police raid in which three persons were injured and later arrested. During raid, explosive material was recovered.

The court observed with the voluntary confession of guilt made by the accused, proved their involvement in terror activities as well as their link with ISI . The offences under section 3 Enemy Agent Ordinance, 7/25 Arms Act and 120-B RPC were proved against the accused. Accordingly, the accused persons were convicted for the commission of offences punishable under the law.

The court further said accordingly, the accused were sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment. All the sentences shall run-concurrently. Public Prosecutor E A Tak appeared for the State and Advocate Mohammad Aslam Bhat appeared for the accused, UNI HGV MQA BS1456
