Gulbarga, Nov 12 (UNI) A two-member central team, which is in the state to assess damages to crop due to drought conditions, visited the affected areas in this district today.

Talking to newspersons here, team members Mr C P Reddy and Mr Daljeet Singh said a preliminary estimation has put the crop loss at Rs 628 crore in the district.

Though Khariff crop was severely affected in the area, not much damage was expected to the rabi crop. Over 50 per cent crop loss was in red gram cultivation, which was the major kharif crop in the district, Mr Reddy said.

The team would submit its report after discussing with other central team members, who were touring the state, he added.
