Take steps for devolution of power to LB representatives:PMK

Puducherry, Nov 11 (UNI) PMK parliamentary party leader Prof M Ramadass today expressed hope that the Puducherry administration would take steps for the devolution of powers to the elected representatives of the local bodies shortly.

In a release here, he recalled the efforts taken by him in the capacity as a representative of the Union Government and also the one day fast as the last resort.

The Centre had taken note of the fast and a direction would be send to the territorial administration either on Monday or Tuesday next to immediately convene a special session of the territorial assembly to pass the law for the devolution of powers, he added.

He urged the administration to take steps to ensure that the welfare works of the people at the grassroot level were executed swiftly.
