Pondicherry electoral rolls revision in offings

Puducherry, Nov 11: The election department here is taking steps for special summary revision of the electoral rolls with January one, 2007 as the qualifying date for inclusion, as per the orders of the Election Commission of India.

District Collector and District Election Officer Theva Neethi Das told a press conference here that the draft electoral rolls would be published on November 20 and public can submit applications for inclusion, deletion and shifting up to December 19 inclusive of November 25, 26 and December 2, 3 (Saturdays and Sundays).

Disposal of claim would be on January 22 and the rolls would be prepared by February 21.

The final voters list would be published on February 26, next year.

Mr Das said the applications for inclusion, deletion and shifting would be available in all the polling stations here besides all post offices.

The registration can also be made through internet, he said.

He said after proper verifications, the photographs of the applicants would be taken and photo electrol rolls would be released on February 26.

The French, Sri Lankan and Nepalese nationals residing here were not entitled to register their name in the voters list, he added.
