Mahesh Dutt Mishra is dead

Jabalpur, Nov 11 (UNI) Noted Gandhian and veteran freedom fighter Mahesh Dutt Mishra died at Harda town of Madhya Pradesh today after prolonged illness. He was 93.

Mr Mishra, who had settled down here, was ailing for some time and his relatives had shifted him to his native place Harda about a month back.

Born at Harda on February 20, 1913, he was jailed thrice between 1930 and 1945 for taking active part in the freedom movement.

He was elected legislator from Harda in 1952 and was elected to the Lok Sabha from Khandwa in 1962. He was head of Politics Department in Jabalpur University from 1956 to 1973.

Mr Mishra, who spent few years at Wardha Ashram, was also head of the Gandhi Srijan Peeth at Jabalpur University.
