K'taka Govt asked to provide all facilities to farmers
Dharwad, Nov 11 (UNI) Natural zero cultivation expert Subhash Palekar today urged the Karnataka Government to provide facilities to farmers on the lines of Maharashtra.
Participating in a meet-the-press programme, organised by the Dharwad Media Club here, he said it was the responsibility of the Government to ensure that the new agriculture policy did not affect the farmers. Use of organic manure and fertilisers in agriculture had led to farmers committing suicide as they were unable to bear the costs.
''The need of the hour is to grow more with zero cost by adopting natural agriculture,'' Mr Palekar stressed, stating that even the fertility of land was declining year after year through use of organic manure.
He held Governments and multinational companies responsible for the plight of farmers in the country.
