Farmer self-immolation case: Probe ordered

Mahoba, Nov 11 (UNI) A probe has been ordered into the case of alleged self-immolation by a debt-ridden farmer in Mohoba district.

Sources today said District Magistrate Sameer Verma has formed a three member committee under the supervision of the Additional District Magistrate to investigate the case.

Unable to repay the loan of Rs one lakh taken from the Allahabad Bank, Ram kishor Rajput doused himself with kerosene and set himself afire on November 8. He was rushed to hospital, where he succumbed.

According to the deceased's brother Mangal Singh, he was told by the bank that if he failed to repay the loan, his 20 hectare land would be auctioned and recovery certificate would be issued against him.
