Mumbai, Nov 11 (UNI) E-City Films, which will distribute 'Babel' starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett in India, is unsure whether the Hollywood star, currently in India for a film shoot, will attend the closing ceremony of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

E-City Films has made a request through the producers of 'Babel' to Pitt's publicists and agents for his presence at IFFI during the screening of the film. ''But, there is no news as yet on whether the actor would attend,'' an E-City Films press release issued here today said.

E-City Films will release 'Babel' by this year end with about 30 prints in major cities across India. The film directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu has travelled to festivals like Cannes, Toronto and London.

Babel traverses through mysterious locales in Morocco, Mexico and Tokyo and interweaves four complex multilingual stories of mishaps, tragedies and misunderstandings. Pitt is an American tourist failing to connect with his wife, played by Blanchett.

''English cinema audiences in the country will only walk to the movie halls if we get them used to good, independent cinema. I guess the disparity is quite clear from the number of English speakers in the country in comparison to English film buffs,'' CEO of E-City Ventures, Atul Goel said.
