Army continues on medal hunt in national shooting

Asansol, Nov 11 (UNI) Army added to their tally when Devender Singh clinched gold in the 50 mts free rifle prone for Men, scoring 582 points (individual) in the 16th All India G V Mavalankar shooting championship here today.

Services another sharp shooter Mukesh Kumar also bagged gold medal in the 50mts Junior Men's (individual) free rifle prone event.

With these two gold medals the Army took its tally to five gold, four silver and a equal number of bronze medals.

The National Cadet Crops(NCC) and Infantry won two gold each, while the hosts, West Bengal, Maharastra, Tamil Nadu and Border Security Force (BSF) got one gold medal each.

In free Rifle orone 50 mts open individual (men)event, Sandip Jijabapu Parte of Maharastra, Thrihur Murthule of Andhra Pradesh and Debdoot Mukherjee of West Bengal won the gold, silver and bronze scoring 572, 571 and 568 points respectively.

In 50 mts sports rifle prone open individual(women) event, V Matangi of Tamil Nadu, Suchitra De of Army and Juthika Bhoslay of Maharastra earned the gold, silver and bronze medals, netting 577, 568 and 554 point respectively.
