Tripura govt to demand for NE infrastructure devp
Agartala, Nov 10: The Tripura government will demand allocation of funds for development of the North-Eastern regional infrastructure in the two-day NE Council meeting, starting from November 15, in New Delhi.
All the eight Chief Ministers of the region and Governors are expected to participate in the meeting. Tripura Governor Dinesh Nandan Sahaya, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Chief Secretary Sashi Prakash and Principal Secretary S K Panda are likely to attend the meeting.
Official sources said here that the NEC has already demanded allocation of Rs 12,400 crore in the 11th five-year plan.
The state would also demand linkages of all NE state capitals by rail, four-lane National Highways and improvement of air services in the region.
The meeting would be inaugurated by the Department of North-Eastern Region(DONER) Minister Manishankar Aiyer on November 15.
