Tribal development is high priority on govt agenda: Kyndiah

New Delhi, Nov 10 (UNI) Emphasising that the development of tribals was very high on the government's agenda, Tribal Affairs Minister P R Kyndiah today said the National Tribal Policy will be finalised to ensure the all round progress in the tribal regions.

Inaugurating the 'Prakriti' festival here to showcase ethnic craft and culture of tribals across the country, he said the event will not only provide a platform to the tribal artists to display their art and culture but it will also provide an opportunity to the people from various streams to interact.

The Minister announced that such festivals will also be organised regularly in other cities.

More than 400 artists from various parts of the country presented a holistic picture of tribal culture and heritage in all its vibrance and colours during the festival.

The festival, organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, will continue till November 14, and provide glimpses of rich cultural heritage through unique forms of folk dances.

These will include 'Jabro' of J&K, 'Lahauli' of Himachal Pradesh, 'Irula' of Tamil Nadu, 'Koya' of Andhra Pradesh, 'Kuruvara Kunitha' of Karnataka, 'Rava' of West Bengal, 'Ghoomra' of Orissa, 'Songi Mukhawaete' of Maharashtra, 'Radhwa Adivasi Nritya' of Gujarat, 'Daangi Dola' of Rajasthan, 'Gaur Madia' of Chhattisgarh, 'Gorware Kunitha' of Karnataka, 'Tandi' of Uttaranchal, 'Lingo' of Maharashtra, 'Karma' of Uttar Pradesh, 'Bhagouriya' of Madhya Pradesh, 'Hoko' of Meghalaya, 'Sanokshi Malu' of Nagaland and 'Bordoichikla' of Assam.
