TDP announces candidate for Bobbili LS seat

Hyderabad, Nov 10: The Telugu Desam Party today announced that Dr Kondapalli Appala Naidu would be the party candidate for the byelection to the Bobbili Lok Sabha constituency in Vizianagaram district.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Paidithalli Naidu, father of Kondapalli Appala Naidu.

Paidithalli Naidu represented the Bobbili constituency for three terms as TDP candidate.

The TDP politburo, which held a tele-conference with the party local leadership, decided to field Appala Naidu.

The Congress is believed to have decided to field Botsa Jhansi, Zilla Parishad Chairman and wife of state Marketing Minister Botsa Satyanarayana for the bypoll.

Byelection would be held for the Karimnagar and Bobbili Lok Sabha constituencies.

While the Karimnagar bypoll was caused by the resignation of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao, who claimed that the bypoll would be a referendum on the formation of separate Telangana state, the Bobbili Lok Sabha byelection was caused by the death of the sitting TDP MP.

Other parties, including the BJP are yet to announce their candidates for the Bobbili seat.

Though the BJP announced that it was for separate Telangana state it chose to field Ch Vidyasagar Rao, former Union Minister, who represented the Karimnagar constituency during the NDA regime against Chandrasekhara Rao.

While Congress is fielding T Jeevan Reddy, MLA from the Jagtial assembly segment of the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency. TDP is putting up L Ramana, former MP to contest from the same constituency.
