Rane calls for government-industry cooperation

Panaji, Nov 10 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane has urged for a ''government-business-industry'' cooperation for the overall development of Goa.

The Chief Minister was addressing members of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) after unveiling a plaque to name the chamber after a miner, Narayan Bundekar, here today.

The Chief Minister stressed that Goa's development would continue notwithstanding the opposition from a certain section. Mr Rane was apparently referring to the opposition to the construction of a 6-lane express highway linking North and South Goa, and other developmental projects.

The Chief Minister said it was his government's desire to transform Goa into a ''jewel in the crown of India''. Goa has the potential to further develop in the IT education scetor and other key sectors of growth, he added.

He eulogised the role of successive visionaries who contributed their mite to the development of Goa through various bodies such as the GCCI.

He urged entrepreneurs to foster ''business-industry-government'' cooperation'' for overall development of the state, particularly in infrastructure development.

Earlier, GCCI president Nitin Kunkolenkar informed that an Information Technology incubator was being set up at the Verna Industrial Estate for the benefit of new entrepreneurs.
