Postal dept launches new scheme 'Takshanam'
Vijayawada, Nov 10 (UNI) Vijayawada Region Postmaster General B V Sudhakur today launched the new 'Takshanam'scheme- immediate disposal at the Head Post Office here facilitating payment of bills through the online 'e-seva centres' with the help of officials who would come to their doorstep.
Explaining the features of the scheme, he said a customer can call or visit the nearest post office or contact the delivery postman. The postman or an identified official from the post office would go to the premises of the customer, accept the bill amount, give the receipt and pay the bill at the 'e-seva' centre. The 'e-seva' receipt would be handed over to the customer at his doorstep.
He said the department would collect a nominal service charge of Rs five per bill, irrespective of the bill amount. The service would be initially made available at 39 post offices in the city. The identified postal officials would be given identity cards, so that customers can identify them and handover their bill amounts.
The scheme would be helpful for employees, professionals, senior citizens and those who cannot find time to visit 'e-seva' centres to pay their bills, he said.
He assured the public that once Post office issues receipt under the new scheme, the post office would be held responsible for the payment of the bill.
He said the scheme was proposed to be extended to Khammam, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore and West Godavari districts shortly.
He said new stamps called 'Fragrance Stamps' would be released in the region in the denomination of Rs ten and above.
